Meet Topnotch Authors, Editors & Agents
2007 will mark the 36th consecutive year for the writers
conference in Amarillo. Frontiers in Writing is heralded, time
after time, as one of the best values for writers at all levels,
beginner to multipublished. This year we are pleased to
welcome Barry Eisler, one of the bright new stars of espionage
and thriller fiction, and Jodi Thomas, a prolific author of
twenty-four novels and a recent inductee into the Romance
Writers of America Hall of Fame. Eight other authors, editors
and literary agents round out the program, offering something
for every writer. Check out the "speakers" and "programs"
sections of the Web site.
Pitch to and Read for Editors & Agents
Conference attendees will be able to participate in pitch
appointments and critique sessions led by editors and agents
who are actively seeking new writers and who also will
conduct workshops during the conference. But register early
to take advantage of the pitch appointments and critique
session opportunities; there are only a certain number of slots
available. Click on the "register" button and get the
registration form. You'll see the sections that allow you to sign
up for a critique session or make a pitch appointment. First
come, first served.
Enter Your Writing in 17 Contest Categories
Click the "contest" button and consider which, or how many,
of the seventeen contest categories you will enter. The
submissions are judged in two rounds: (1) the preliminary
round by published authors and (2) the final round by editors
and agents. Last year we received more than 600 entries and
paid out more than $3,500 in prize money. Of course, the real
prize is getting your work seen by people who can acquire or
place your novel, short story, children's book, work of
nonfiction, essay, or poetry.
Contest submissions are due
postmarked no later than March 1st
, so there's no time to
waste.
Register Now!
So get cracking, as my grandmother used to say, and send in
your conference registration and contest entries right away.

We look forward to receiving your contest entries and seeing
you in Amarillo June 8 and 9.

FiW 2007 Conference Chairman

P.S.  If you have questions about the conference, contest, or Amarillo,
click "contact us" and send us an email. We'll get back to you with an
answer as soon as possible.
Once again this year we are pleased to welcome Barnes & Noble
as host of our conference bookstore.
Check Out the Youth Writing Contest
One of our goals at Panhandle Professional Writers is to
encourage students in their creative writing endeavors. To
this end, each year, we have a youth writing contest open to
all students grades 3 through 12. If you fall in that category, or
are a parent, relative, or teacher of someone who does, review
the information about the PPW Youth Writing Contest by
clicking on "youth contest" on the menu bar at the top of this
page on the left. You'll find all the contest categories, rules,
and dates on the youth contest page of this web site, and you
can download an entry form there, as well.
